[Loki Never Lies (Version 2)]

Fantastic video-gameish metal

How you used Slayer makes it sound less like like a real heavy metal, but rather a video game song, something you'd find on Megaman perhaps? Anyway the only thing wrong with this is Slayer. The melody is just GREAT but it is brought down by the overall crap quality you get from Slayer. I suggest you get RealStrat with the Amplitube 2 VST. Really real sounding guitars, but really the best sound you can get is by simply recording live guitars.

Anyway, awesome piece!

Catchy beat

Catchy beat, it loops well. I don't like how you depended on filter automations so much though, and that Speakonia or something whisper at the start, it's pretentious, remove it, but hey you're the one making the music if you don't care fine.

Thanks. Im use to using the filter automation. Im not THAT great lol. I have yet still alot to learn. Its the only way i can get a certain sound, and make it sound realistic. The speech whisper, i only use it to brand my beats. =/ Thanks for the review. Check out my page for more.

Very strange

It's not terrible, but it's not very good either. The vibe here is... unplaceable, and I really have no idea what I'm listening to. This could probably be a nice backdrop to a rap song though.

Also what program did you make this with?

i made it in about an hour, so it´s sort of rushed :P i used fruityloops 8, with Ni massive and a drum loop. there´s some gltich applied with dblue gltich but it is mostly ruin the song :P

Generic

My first thought on this when the riff started playing: boring. This song really captures the "we're a bunch of friends messing around and having fun" sound though, absolutely no seriousness in this song, hell the EQing was a joke ( at least on my headphones it sounds so ). I mean, the rhythm guitar had too much going on in the low end, make the bass a treble laden mess akin to the sound of a string being plucked nonchalantly. You must not like your bassist. Also overall it was too lo-fi, and it's a punk song too. Lo-fi + punk = generic.

Now, the vocals started out cool, but when 'cause I'm dumber than a turd' ended the vocals became generic and too much like the guy from Blink 182. And the vocals also touched on annoying at times like when 'ice cream man now hiring' was sung, or rather chanted. The vocals lack harmony and melody and is too much like a generic punk song, as I have been saying. You guys should consider on diversifying with the melodies and whatnot.

I mean, the guitar was bland like the rest of the song, and the generic riff didn't help. And so were the rest of the instruments: generic and boring. You guys can play, sure, but damn, how many times do I have to say generic?

Also, the lyrics are terrible. I didn't like them at all, and when the final line was said, I nearly cringed in disgust. I mean, it's a terrible way to end the song, you could've thrown a solo in but instead you punctuated the song with the vocals, thus ending it on a bad note. Sorry guys, I just didn't like this song at all. No offense.

Listen to We Are Scientists, I can imagine you guys being able to sound like that, cramming as much as you can and doing as much with plain rock riffs as you can to keep things fresh. It's really a band I'd like you guys to try and emulate, especially in their album With Love and Squalor. But if you guys really intend on being focused on punk, fine with me.

vocals bad for my tastes; everything else spot on

I like the writing of everything, like the lyrics and guitars and whatnot. And how the bass melded in with the rest of the instruments and basically how everything fit together perfectly; with the vocals of course sort of ruining the feel of the song; but you'll probably fix them soon anyway.

So yeah, my only problem was the vocals; everything else was great!

I don't know why, but I think this would sound MUCH better if you ( or whoever was singing ) would try to imitate Liam Gallagher ( that's Oasis, a britpop band, hence the weirdness, but it fits more really. )

And if that electric sounding guitar is bass, it should really be lower, and have more "oomph" I mean it's like everything's caught in the middle frequency, So a bass added in/bass adjusted to be lower would do wonders with the song.

Overall it's fine, but the vocals aren't really my cup of tea.

Vocal parts fit in, add to the quality

Aside from that, there's the excellent drum parts, which are technically unoriginal, but they sound great and provide a great body to the song nonetheless. The bass was kinda lacking though, seeing that it's a drum and bass song, you better have seriously epic bass, like have a more complex bass riff going on. It'll help keep the song fresher and it'll sound much better.

And more instruments, and synths and such would suffice, even just one addition, like Euroarp or something, it'll sound darker and more complex, but if you wanna keep it the same, fine with me it's a good song. Also, the way it loops is great, perfect for the dancefloor I must say.

6 because of the irritating rap

Upload another version without the rap, it's very annoying. Like, the reverb/echo whatever at the start was a bad effect. The way you were rapping was bad, like the tone and the way you chanted, it was infuriating. Especially the part near the end, sounded like someone was having a seizure, work on that. The lyrics were also bad, too generic, nothing poetic, nothing entertaining. Work on that too. And the kids cheering at the beginning, take it out, it's odd.

Now, the music was fine, if not it was great, so if the music was done by you I'd strongly suggest uploading a lyricless version.

All I have to say, and no this is not a diss.

Annoying and repetitive

3 because it was okay at first, then it slowly plummeted into a puddle of terrible ear punishing terror.

Like, you'd think after that drum buildup part at the beginning would lead to it having drums, bass and the melody. But no, it just stays the same, with not enough instruments to make it interesting. It does not even loop well, the drums are at the end, and it goes back to just piano.

Basically, you have to take out that buzzing melody and replace it with a channel easier on the ears, include drums and bass as well.
